Photo Exhibition “Citizen In Action”

On May 16, 2015 the Civic Education Lecturers Association (CELA) and Journalist Network for Gender Equality in partnership with Tbilisi City Hall held an exhibition of photographs submitted in scope of the photo contest “Citizen In Action”. Students and journalists from different parts of Georgia participated in the photo contest, that aimed to reflect involvement of citizens in the process of development of civic society and democracy. 

The Jury awards were handed out to Beka Korchilava (Gori Sukjishvili Teaching University student) for a photography “Nostalgia” and Davit Kikalishvili (photoreporter) for a photo “For Each Other”. The guests of the exhibition also named their favorite works. Their awards were handed out to Giorgi Girkelidze (Guria News journalist) and Nino Zaalishvili (member of Journalist Network for Gender Equality).

All four winners received an e-book reader Kindle as a prize.

The exhibition was attended by university students, professors, representatives of different political parties, international and local nongovernmental organizations and the media.

Along with the exhibition, a Gender Equality Alley was opened, where participants planted 50 cypress trees. The aforementioned was conducted by NGOs in partnership with Tbilisi City Hall. 

The photo contest was made possible with the financial support of USAID in the framework of the project Strengthening Electoral Processes, implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
